Tavern and ice cream shopThe Osteria Gelateria Antico Travaglio is located within the walls of the Castle of Monteriggioni, in a suggestive and fascinating medieval setting. Our story begins in 1998 by the will of Fabrizio, owner and inspirer of the cuisine, and the restaurant was born in the expertly renovated rooms of an old stable, then a blacksmith's workshop, as if to underline the profound connection with our history and this wonderful city. Since then, we have offered you the opportunity to spend moments of absolute relaxation in a timeless atmosphere. Our fresh pasta is all home-made, as are the desserts.
The second courses are cooked following ancient traditions, where grilled meat is the restaurant's signature dish, like the classic Fiorentina steak. The homemade naturally leavened bread pays homage to our strictly local cured meats and cheeses; furthermore, a small but careful selection of Tuscan red wines accompanies our dishes and delights your palate for any occasion you wish to spend with us, from a quick snack to the most important lunch or dinner or even for a romantic after-dinner at inside our garden.

All types of our fresh pasta are created by the expert hands of our chefs, using traditional recipes and simple, genuine ingredients. The same chefs also cheer up the end of the meal with delicious desserts.
Bar and ice cream shop
We also provide bar service with our tables directly overlooking the Monteriggioni square, where you can take a break while enjoying a coffee or, why not, one of our ice creams.
Atmosphere and Tradition
The Osteria is located within the walls of the Monteriggioni Castle in an atmosphere of times gone by, a stone's throw from the Chianti Classico area, Siena and San Gimignano, immersed in exceptional countryside.
